A Scottish Entrepreneurial Spirit

My story begins in Scotland, where I was born and raised in an entrepreneurial family with a unique background—we ran a fairground. Growing up surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the fair instilled in me a love for business and an understanding of the dedication it takes to succeed. From an early age, I was involved in various aspects of the fairground business, learning the ropes of management, customer service, and the importance of financial stability.

From Beauty to Beats

Before I found my calling in bookkeeping and having obtained a bachelor's Degree in Business and Consumer Studies, I ventured into two very different industries: beauty and nightlife. I owned and operated a beauty salon with my sister, where I honed my skills in business management and customer relations. Later, I took on the exciting challenge of running a nightclub with my husband, which not only tested my organizational abilities but also my capacity to handle fast-paced and high-pressure environments. These experiences were invaluable, providing me with a diverse skill set and a deep understanding of different business models.

A New Chapter in Newmarket

In 2010, I made the life-changing decision to leave Scotland and move to Newmarket with my Canadian Husband. Bringing with me a wealth of experience and a passion for helping businesses thrive, I established my bookkeeping firm. Over the past 14 years, I’ve dedicated myself to supporting businesses in various industries with all their bookkeeping needs. I am also proud to share that I enjoy donating my time as Treasurer and bookkeeper to a local nursery school. Additionally, I am honoured to serve on the finance committee of the amazing charity Unsinkable Ltd., which focuses on mental health advocacy for youth and families through the power of storytelling.
